Will Askimo always be free for individuals?
Yes. The individual edition is free forever, open source under AGPLv3. There are no plans to introduce usage limits or paywalls for personal use.
What does Askimo charge for? Do I pay for AI usage?
Askimo itself is free. You bring your own API keys and connect directly to AI providers like OpenAI, Anthropic, or Google. Any usage costs go directly to those providers at their standard rates. Local models like Ollama are completely free.
When is the Team Edition launching?
The Team Edition is planned for H2 2026. Pricing has not been finalised yet. Register your interest below and you will be the first to know when it launches.
What is the difference between Individual and Team Edition?
The Individual edition is a fully self-contained local app. Everything runs on your machine. The Team Edition adds collaboration features: shared knowledge bases, shared directives, role-based access, centralised configuration, and optional encrypted cloud sync.
Will the Team Edition still be open source?
The core Askimo engine and Individual edition remain AGPLv3 open source. The Team Edition will include proprietary collaboration and sync infrastructure that will not be part of the open source release.
Can I self-host the Team Edition?
Yes. The Team Edition will support self-hosting so your data never leaves your own infrastructure. This is especially important for organisations with strict data residency or compliance requirements. Details on deployment options will be published closer to launch.
